Omani analysts claim the US is demanding $5 trillion from Gulf states to stop the war against Iran
Date: 2026-03-30

According to Omani journalist Salim al-Juhuri, speaking on BBC Arabic, the US has allegedly demanded trillions of dollars from its Gulf Arab allies to support its war against Iran.

Juhuri told BBC Arabic that reports and "leaked" information indicate the Trump administration is demanding financial aid from members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

He stated that these alleged demands are closely related to the continuation and end of the war.

Juhuri said, "Today we are talking about some leaked information, in which the US president is demanding approximately $5 trillion from GCC members if they want the war to continue; and $2.5 trillion if they want to end the war, as compensation for the achievements the US has made over the past period."

Accusations of pressuring Gulf states

Juhuri also claimed that the US government is pressuring Gulf states to participate militarily and financially in the conflict.

He stated that these alleged demands are part of a broader effort to garner support from regional allies in the ongoing conflict.

These comments were made while discussing the financial and military aspects of the conflict involving Iran.

No official confirmation has been made.

Neither the US nor Gulf authorities have officially confirmed these claims. These statements remain based on alleged "leaked" information cited in a BBC Arabic report.

Since the joint US-Israel offensive against Iran on February 28, the regional situation has continued to escalate, resulting in over 1,340 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military facilities, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disrupting global markets and aviation.
